At the end of 2025, I produced an episode for Snap Judgment titled “The Pencil Factory.” The story followed a Russian family deported from the U.S.-Mexico border while seeking asylum and detained for months in an old pencil factory in rural Costa Rica. This was one of the first stories to bring you inside a ‘third-country deportation’ in real time.
